Mechanical spring seal, a device commonly used in pumps and other rotating equipment to prevent the leakage of liquids along a rotating shaft. The seal consists of a stainless-steel rotating assembly with a helical spring that maintains constant pressure between the sealing faces. A black elastomer component acts as a secondary seal, providing flexibility and preventing fluid leakage around the shaft. The separate white ring visible beside the assembly is the stationary seat or mating ring, typically made from ceramic, carbon, or silicon carbide, which works together with the rotating seal face to create an effective sealing surface. The corrosion-resistant construction and compact design make this type of seal suitable for applications in water pumps, chemical processing equipment, food and beverage machinery, and various industrial systems where reliable fluid containment is essential.
